“The Journey of Imagination”
By Rev. Jeff Byrd
Once I dreamed in colors wild,
The fearless vision of a child,
A cardboard box, a castle tall,
An unseen friend who knew it all.
No boundary hemmed my sky of play,
The world was mine in every way;
A wand, a sword, a whispered breeze,
Became the truth my soul could seize.
But years grew heavy on my mind,
And slowly I became confined.
The world said, “Be cautious, wise—
Keep smaller dreams, distrust your eyes.”
So I imagined shadows near,
My mind rehearsed its daily fear.
Concern wore clothes of wisdom’s name,
But little visions kept me tame.
Then Spirit called: “Awake, arise—
Lift your vision to the skies!
Imagination is not play,
It shapes the Truth in you today.”
And so I turn from fear’s old role,
To Spirit’s canvas in my soul.
I see with eyes of wholeness now,
To Love, to Peace, my thoughts must bow.
For when imagination’s clear,
The Infinite is always near.
It births a world both vast and bright,
Transforming shadow into Light.
